Hi all.  My name is Kristin Rocco and I am honored to introduce myself as Snowbird Cottage's NYC accessories buyer.  How much fun it has been so far!  I have been on the hunt for the latest trends and city fashions all the way from Manhattan's Upper East Side to the trendy SOHO and all the way down to Brooklyn-where I stopped for some deliciously famous Grimaldi's pizza. 

I am so happy to be able to bring some really fun and great pieces to the store, which isn't so far from my hometown, Penfield.  Many of the pieces I look for are vintage and one of a kind.  This is my favorite type of accessory because I love being unique.  Other items, like the pashmina scarves are seen all over the place.  The great thing about them, is that they can be worn most of the year, and they are even worn as part of people's outfits. 

The latest trend is taking vintage broaches and pins or really funky big rings and securing the scarf around your neck with them.  (Actually, just the other week I sent Snowbird Cottage seven rings.  Not sure how many are left!)  The pins and broaches you can easily fasten on any part of the scarf, I like to do it once the scarf is wrapped once or twice around the neck and pin the two ends together in the middle.  The rings are usually adjustable in size so you can open them up and feed both ends of the scarf through it.  This trick works especially well and looks great with silk scarves. 

Even though we are closing for the season on December 23rd and reopening in May, I will keep you posted on my buying excursions.
